In fact, in the UK online spending already ranks as king of ad spend, gaining that title in September of 2009, according to an article in The Guardian. “It has taken the internet little more than a decade to become the biggest advertising sector,” the article reported, largely due to unprecedented consumer adoption of the new technology and superior ad return versus other advertising methods.
